Key Applications & Best Uses

  • Flexible Small-to-Medium Production: Its primary strength lies in handling a wide array of production requirements without the complexity of high-end industrial machines.
  • Thin to Medium-Gauge Materials: It is engineered to process steel thicknesses up to 4 mm as standard, with a “Power-Package” option that increases the 3200mm machine’s capacity by 1mm.
  • Complex Profile Geometries: Using segmented tools, the machine can easily form a wide range of geometries, making it suitable for custom profiles and prototypes.
  • Precision Industrial Tasks: With high-precision ball screw back gauges (accuracy of ± 0.1 mm), it is used for tasks requiring high repeatability, such as architectural components and mechanical engineering parts.
  • Radius Bending: The standard control includes a bump-forming radius function, specifically suited for creating precise rounded edges and radius profiles.

Core Advantages

  • Ease of Programming: Equipped with Classic Bend or optional POS 2000 Professional software, it allows operators with minimal computer skills to program complex parts through intuitive touchscreens.
  • Fast Setup: The machine is designed to minimise setup times between different jobs, supporting “just-in-time” production for smaller batches.
  • Surface Protection: Unlike traditional press brakes, the folding process produces very little marking, making it ideal for polished, painted, or sensitive materials.

Standard configuration:

Software control:

  • Positioning of the 10,1″ touch-screen with Classic Bend via swivelling arm
  • Radius function

Clamping beam:

  • Clamping beam stroke 350 mm (325 mm with manual clamping device)
  • Clamping beam geometry 48° or optional 180°
  • Drive: 2 x 2.2 kW (converter controlled, 65 mm/sec, recirculated ball screws)
  • Manual tool clamping device.

Folding beam:

  • Drive: 2 × 2.2 kW (converter-controlled, 85°/sec)
  • Manual folding beam adjustment of 80 mm
  • Manual tool clamping device for folding beam

Bottom beam

  • Bottom beam blade ca. 1 100 N/mm2 surface-hardened (nitrated) – one-piece
(Minimum gauge variies according to equipment)

Back gauge:

  • Motorized back gauge up to 1000 mm, pneumatic pop-up gauge fingers, sheet support table with balls, recirculated ball screws

Others:

  • Foot safety switch
  • Anchor plates, incl. dowels
  • The standard machine comes without the folding and clamping beam tools

The reinforced drive includes: a folding blade of 35 mm 1100 N/mm² (in combination with the sharp-nose blade tool, bending angle restriction to a max. of 140°), requires a converter package (65°/sec) – Only available for the 3,200mm machine.
  • Motorised folding beam adjustment of 80 mm
  • Manual central crowning.
  • Motorised central crowning – Requires technology package POS 2000 Professional
  • Pneumatic tool clamping device – requires the crowning device
  • Technology package POS 2000 Professional
  • Technology package nanoTouch

Table and back gauge

  • Motorised back gauge up to 1600 mm (closed; two sectors with the pneumatic lowering device, sheet support table with balls, recirculated ball screws +/- 0,1)
  • Back gauge extension to J- or U-gauge. Basis: motorised gauge up to 1600 mm, closed – refer to image of back gauge options.
  • Two fixed square arms (left and right sides)
  • Two pneumatic pop-up square arms on aisle side (only in connection with POS 2000 Professional)

Software control

  • POS 2000 Professional PC Version (external programming).
  • Technology package with POS 2000 Professional: graphic control with touchscreen on swivelling arm, motorised folding beam adjustment of 80 mm and remote maintenance.

Safety and others

  • Trolley cart for tooling storage
  • Additional equipment for a 2-man operation and control, for accident prevention requirements.
  • Operation from the rear, in addition to the 2nd footswitch and protection via the laser barrier
  • Foot switch on the rail for lateral movement
  • Voltage transformer 12 kVA
  • Air conditioner for the electrical cabinet
  • Various bottom beam, folding beam, and clamping beam tools – For tooling options, refer to the image gallery.

Software

Classic Bend – NC Programming

The most clearly laid-out alphanumeric control

We developed the modern Classic Bend alphanumeric control as the standard software for craftsmen and industrial manufacturers who use folding machines like MAKU and PowerBend Universal.

Classic Bend controls the clamping beam and the folding beam using a path measurement system, and the motorised back stop is controlled via the digitally controlled frequency inverter. The user interface is clearly laid out and combines easy-to-understand icons with text and numerical displays.

Do you need unified bending programs for metal sheets of different quality? Special programs no longer need to be created in case of material-dependent deviations when using Classic Bend. The option to enter corrections to settings for the clamping beam and the folding beam is available for each bend.

POS 2000 Professional

The standard for industrial folding machines

The proven POS 2000 Professional makes programming a folding machine fast and comfortable. The desired program components can be selected from a
comprehensive and expandable catalogue, the angle and side dimensions are easily changed by pressing the monitor.

The control software displays exactly what the machine is doing: The folding machine, workpiece, and tool are shown schematically and updated for every bending step. Anyone who programs the preparation of the work away from the machine can test the quality of their program using the bending simulation, which effectively avoids waste and delays during production.

The software not only controls the machine but also offers assistance to the user: all of the necessary operator activities, like turning, rotating, etc., are
displayed for each bending step.

TECHNICAL DATA

The Schroeder PowerBend Universal is a versatile motorised folding machine best suited for lean sheet metal forming in environments where production requirements change rapidly. It bridges the gap between manual workshop tools and high-end industrial folding systems, making it an ideal choice for locksmiths, maintenance, and plumbing workshops.
