Primary Applications

  • Heavy-Duty Industrial Fabrication:
    • Thick Plate Processing: Capable of folding up to 6 mm (1/4″) steel over 3.2 meters, or 5 mm over 4 meters.
    • Large Panel Fabrication: Ideal for bending long, heavy sheets where the weight makes manual flipping prohibitive.
    • Radius/Step Bending: Precision step-bending for thick architectural curves or rounded machine covers.
  • Complex Multi-Directional Parts:
    • Z-Folds & Counter-Folds: The Up-and-Down (UD) folding beam creates positive and negative bends in a single pass. This eliminates the need to flip heavy sheets, drastically reducing cycle time and operator fatigue.
    • Enclosures with Return Flanges: Can form complex geometries where the sheet must be bent “inside” the machine throat.
  • Deep & Tall Enclosures:
    • Extra-Deep Boxes: Features a massive 850 mm clamping beam stroke (compared to ~500 mm on the Professional), allowing for the use of 300 mm tall tools. This enables the fabrication of very deep electrical cabinets, switchgear boxes, and machine housings.
  • Automated Series Production:
    • “Hands-Free” Bending: When equipped with the suction gauge system, the machine grips the sheet from the back. Combined with the UD beam, it can automatically position and fold an entire complex profile without the operator touching the part after the initial loading.

Key Operational Capabilities

  • Up-and-Down Folding Beam: The defining feature that allows the beam to fold from below (0° to 90°+) and above, removing the need to flip the workpiece.
  • Suction Gauge Table: A pneumatic back gauge system that holds the sheet firmly, ensuring accuracy for heavy parts that might slip with traditional fingers.
  • Tool Positioning Display: An LED bar along the clamping beam visually indicates exactly where tools should be placed, speeding up setup for complex segmented tool arrangements.

Back gauge

Clamping beam

The standard for industrial folding machines

The proven POS 2000 Professional makes programming a folding machine fast and comfortable.

The desired program components can be selected from a comprehensive and expandable catalogue. The angle and side dimensions can be easily changed by pressing the monitor.

The control software displays exactly what the machine is doing: The folding machine, workpiece, and tool are shown schematically and updated for every bending step. Anyone who programs work preparation away from the machine can test the quality of their program using the bending simulation, which effectively avoids waste and delays during production.

The software not only controls the machine but also offers assistance to the user: for each bending step, all of the necessary operator activities, like turning, rotating, etc., are displayed.

Interactive sheet design

POS 3000 3D graphical control is one of the most powerful controls on the market. Because both the hardware- and software come from a single provider, the PowerBend Professional and POS 3000 3D graphical control are a perfect match.

Working with POS 3000 is extremely comfortable:

Clearly laid-out product selection, including a search function and navigation in submenus, enables the operator to select work steps and connect them in the production plan menu to create sequences.

Individual product profiles can be designed very quickly via the intuitive finger-activated drawing feature. The exact dimensions may be entered and changed in the dimensioning menu. In order to check and coordinate together with the customer, the drawing may be output on paper using a printer.

Using the program that is created, the software generates the optimal sequence of bends, including automatic collision and threshold value monitoring. The folding angle and cut are corrected automatically using interpolation from the database.
